Canada Learning Code looking for a mission-driven, experienced, and inclusive leader to join our team as the Manager of Educational & Community Partnerships.

This is a temporary, full-time, salaried position. Your term of employment will start on July 6, 2022, and end on August 25, 2023. 

As the Manager of Educational & Community Partnerships, you will be responsible for building and developing a team that seeks to identify and develop relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, and individual educators as well as deepening the engagement of their existing relationships with these groups. The day-to-day includes a mix of people management, strategic planning/reporting and cross-functional projects.

You will report to me and work across the organization to develop and implement strategies and tactics to deliver Meaningful Learning Experiences.

Canada Learning Code is Canada's leading national charity championing computer science education. Canada Learning Code is proud to work from coast-to-coast-to-coast to make sure that everyone in Canada has access to the knowledge they need to prosper in our digital world.

Originally founded as Ladies Learning Code in 2011, the organization has evolved to run programming for adults, youth and educators through our Ladies, Girls, Kids, Teens and Teachers Learning Code programs. Today, Canada Learning Code operates in over 250 communities across the country, driving impact through program design and delivery, strategic industry and public partnerships, research and advocacy. To date, the organization has had over 775,000 learners attend an in-person or live online experience.

What Success Looks Like


  • The CS&P team develops unique local and national partnerships and builds our community of educators and community leaders
  • The CS&P team reaches or exceeds team goals and contributes to the overall strategy of the organization 
  • CLC reaches more learners across the communities we strive to serve and meets their diverse learning needs
  • CLC’s educator communities are equipped and empowered to impart computing science knowledge within their classrooms

What Your Key Responsibilities Are


  • Manage a team from ‘hire to retire’ including day-to-day functions of the team
  • Spearhead and manage Salesforce reporting processes and ensure up to date and accurate data relating to both pipeline and results
  • Lead strategies and tactics to generate qualified outbound leads and steward inbound leads and build sustainable relationships with learner partners to grow retention
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure representation of partnerships team in all relevant events, processes and projects
  • Lead annual planning for the team, including goal setting and tracking as well as budget management.

What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like


While no two days look the same, the following is what you can expect to work on in this role.

People & Team Management


  • Plan and facilitate effective and consistent check-ins with all team members to provide direction and guidance as well as gather and relay feedback to senior leadership
  • Ensure that team members are engaged and supported through (but not limited to) training, coaching and collaborative opportunities
  • Provide direct reports ongoing and clear direction, performance management and career development support 
  • Coach Team Members on day-to-day issues, provide insights into complex business challenges, and help remove roadblocks
  • Ensure team members have the resources, tools and information to be successful within their roles 
  • Facilitate a culture of accountability and collaboration across teams

Pipeline & Relationship Management


  • Lead outreach and retention strategies that support organizational goals as well as learner needs
  • Ensure adequate tracking of all program activity and results including tracking of both pipelines and final results
  • Ensure all updates are made within the allotted timelines using databases such as Salesforce
  • Ensure proper documentation of all internal processes and hold teams accountable to expectations
  • Implement processes that ensure optimization of learning facilitator schedules while meeting learner needs
  • Where needed, steward key community and/or educational partnerships 
  • Ensure clear communication across development, relationship, and facilitation teams 
  • Prioritize communities CLC strives to serve through an understanding of community need

Strategy & Cross-Functional Communications


  • Support senior leadership on annual goal setting and budgetary planning
  • Analyze data and provide insights and feedback to optimize resources and results
  • Actively participate in project teams for various org-wide events and initiatives
  • Ensure that the team’s administrative processes are reflective of the CLC brand and values

About You 


  • You have 3 or more years of experience in a people management role and can demonstrate best practices such as employee development, performance management, team engagement, coaching, and managing up
  • You have some experience in business development and/or account management and can demonstrate development strategies, include pipeline management
  • You are skilled at organizational planning, prioritization, relationship-building, and business platforms (such as Google Workspace, Slack, a CRM, and social apps)
  • You demonstrate collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement 
  • You must be able to clear a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check

Please also let us know if you have the following experience or skills:
  • Official bilingualism (English and French)
  • Experience working with the communities CLC strives to serve
  • Experience in a non-profit or charitable organization
  • Experience working with schools, education systems, and education ministries
  • Knowledge of computer science

Location


We are a remote-first organization with Team Members located across Canada. Our physical office is in Toronto (near Queen and University). Team members located in or visiting the Toronto area have the option to access or work from the office in accordance with our COVID-19 policies.

You may be required to work on evenings and weekends from time to time to support specific events and Team Members in various time zones.

Compensation 


$70,000 to $77,500 annually & the following benefits:

  • Being a  part of a growing team that is changing the computer science education industry in a big way
  • 15 days of vacation annually plus shut down during December (usually one week) for some rest and recharge time
  • Up to 10 Personal days per calendar year that can be used sick or emergency days or as floater holidays for religious and traditional practices that don't match the standard holiday schedule
